Dr. Andrea Romero’s Research Lab

Youth and Communities in Action for Health and Education Research Team

We study the resilience of ethnic minority adolescents living in low-income neighborhoods as they overcome challenges of economic stress, neighborhood stress and cultural stress.

Topics of special interest include ethnic identity, familism, and neighborhood cohesion.

We are currently working on projects to examine mental well-being and educational outcomes.

In most of our research we use a youth-community participatory action research approach to ensure that our work is relevant and useful for community members.
